Series 1 Episode 12

Welcome to series 1 episode 12 of the <b>Your App Lady Podcast</b>!

All about apps and tech that I love and use every day.

On each episode, I’ll talk about recent tech news, recommend apps that I use myself and leave you with a great tech tip.

<b>Tech News</b>

Apple says it's "exploring" offering rebates to customers who paid full price for a replacement battery to improve the performance of an older iPhone.

The tech giant noted that possibility in a letter to Sen. John Thune, in response to questions about the company's practice of <a href="https://www.cnet.com/news/apple-is-slowing-down-older-iphones-batteries-faq/">slowing down older iPhones</a> as their batteries age.

In the letter, dated Feb. 2, Apple provided a timeline of events surrounding the issue, some technical details, and answers to eight <a href="https://www.cnet.com/news/us-senator-questions-apple-about-slowing-down-older-iphones/">questions Thune had asked early last month</a>. The senator is a Republican from South Dakota and chairman of the Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee.

The last question was about whether the company had considered allowing customers who'd paid full price for a new battery "to seek a rebate for some of the purchase price." Apple said in December it would <a href="https://www.cnet.com/news/how-to-get-apples-29-iphone-battery-replacement/">replace batteries on iPhone 6 and later models for $29</a>. The company normally charges $79 to replace a battery for a phone not under warranty.

Responding to Thune's question, Apple said, "Yes, we are exploring this and will update you accordingly."

<b>Tech Tip</b>

Here is another tip for your Amazon Echo. We have several Echo Dots at our house and we love the Crazy version of the classic Freeze Dance!

Alexa tells your kids to dance in various funny ways and freeze when the music stops. If they're on a sugar rush or just having a crazy indoor day, open Freeze Dancers and let them go on and on and on. This game doesn't stop until the last kid drops!

This skill is from www.pretzellabs.co.

Alexa can also play music on your Echo. Music is available from Spotify, Amazon Prime Music, iHeartRadio, <a href="https://www.amazon.com/TuneIn-Radio/dp/B004GYY714">TuneIn</a>, Pandora, and <a href="https://www.amazon.com/SiriusXM/dp/B06X9NK3KD">SiriusXM</a>. Prime Music from Amazon is included in your Amazon Prime membership and gives you access to over 2 million tracks. You can request specific songs or a genre.
